- 4-Hour TREC Legal Update I - Syllabus
In this course, students will review the statutory changes to TRELA and to the Commissioner’s Rules. The statutory changes to the Texas Property Code will be discussed along with commercial and residential property management issues. Changes to the Texas Property Code regarding water rights will be outlined. Students will learn about the changed promulgated contracts and addenda to be used in 2016 as well as the concept of unauthorized practiced of law.
- 4-Hour TREC Legal Update II – Syllabus
In this course, students will review the ethics requirements for engaging in real estate and will outline the five Canons of Professional Conduct. Students will learn about the federal and state fair housing laws as well as the disparate impact theory. Agency and IABS disclosure requirements will be discussed. Students will discover the impact of the DTPA on real estate license holders and will identify the changes to property tax laws.
- 4-Hour Economics in Real Estate – Syllabus
As a subset of economics, real estate economics follows the general rules and theories of general economics. This course looks at how various economic factors influence the real estate market and affect real estate values. You begin with an introduction to important economic theories and real estate market segmentation. Then the course reviews major economic indicators and real estate cycles. These concepts are applied to the concepts of urban and rural land use and the development of cities.
- 6-Hour Property Management Basics - Syllabus
Property management is the administration, operation, marketing, maintenance, and financial oversight of real property in order to achieve the objectives of the property’s owner. Property managers work closely with both the owners of the properties they manage and the tenants who reside and work within the properties. Property managers have a dual responsibility to both the owner and the tenants. The owner wants the highest possible return from the property and the tenants want the best value for their money. Some of the best ways to retain tenants are to provide a well-maintained property and implement reasonable safety and security measures. A property manager has a balancing act between pleasing tenants as much as possible while maintaining costs for the owner. However, the relationship between the property manager and the tenant is a business relationship—not a friendship. Therefore, property managers should maintain a professional attitude when dealing with tenants.
About Continuing Education (CE):
After the completion of your Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE) requirements prior to the end of your first license term, real estate agents are required to complete 18 hours of CE every two years thereafter.
- Licensees must complete 18 hours of CE courses, including 8 hours in Legal Update I and II.
- CE must be taken every 2 years after SAE requirements are satisfied.
