In 2008 the government mandated a national licensing and registration system called The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act. It helps to improve the flow of information between regulators and MLOs regarding their practices.
It is not required to use test prep materials before sitting for your state MLO exam, although many test-takers find them helpful due to the difficulty of the test.
When it’s time to take your state MLO exam, you will be required to take both a national component of the test and a state portion. Each part will require a passing grade in order to receive your license.
No personal belongings will be allowed into the MLO testing facility. You will be provided with a basic calculator and scratch paper during your test. It’s advised to leave all personal items at home.
