There are certain general requirements that need to be met before you can get an MLO license in Kansas. MLO hopefuls need to be at least 18 years old, authorize a credit report and submit to a federal criminal background check.
To become a MLO in Kansas you need to take 20 hours of pre-license education before you can apply for and take the Kansas MLO state and national test components.
Even though no specific job experience is requirements, most MLO employers prefer to hire people with backgrounds in sales, mortgage lending or banking when looking to add mortgage loan originators.
When it’s time to sit for the state exam, you will have to pass both a national and state portion for the MLO license exam.
Personal items are not permissible during the Kansas MLO state license exam. This includes cell phones, calculator, and purses. A white board for notes and a basic calculator will be provided by the testing facility before you sit for the MLO exam.
After you’ve taken and passed your 20 hours of education and receive your MLO license, you will be required to take 8 hours of continuing education each year after the year you complete your initial pre-license education.
