In order to get your Georgia MLO license, you’ll need to be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, submit to state and federal criminal background checks and allow for a credit check.
Before you can take the Georgia state MLO exam, you’ll need to complete and receive a passing grade on 20 of approved pre-license education. Some employers prefer MLOs to also have a bachelor’s degree.
Some employers prefer MLOs to have prior lending experience or have worked in sales or banking. Although no previous work experience is required to become a mortgage loan originator.
When it comes time to sit for the Georgia state MLO exam you will have to take a two component test featuring a state section and a federal section. You must receive a passing grade of 75% of higher on both sections in order to get your MLO license.
No personal belonging will be permitted into the testing area while you are taking your test. This includes cell phones, purses, calculators, and notebooks. It’s advised to leave your personal items at your home or in your car while you are taking your MLO state exam.
Each year after completing your required 20 hours of NMLS approved education and receiving your license, you will be required to take an additional 8 hours of approved MLO education.
