Appraisal Continuing Education Requirements

Generally, states require licensees to complete 28 hours of continuing education every two years, 7 hours of which should be USPAP update. (Note: Some states have different CE requirements for trainees). Please confirm your state’s specific appraisal license renewal requirements before enrolling in your courses.

    • This course focuses on outlining property characteristics that create complexity in an appraisal assignment. This course has intertwined case studies into its structure in order to better show how these specific criteria apply in the appraisal process.
  • Creating Credible Appraisals (7 Hours) - Syllabus
    • This course centers on what makes an appraisal credible. Students will begin by learning the basic aspects behind the appraisal process and will learn about the importance of quality control. The course will then focus on reporting the appraisal and will examine the roles that ethics, competency, and USPAP play in the appraisal process.
  • National USPAP Update Course (7 Hours) - Syllabus
    • This course focuses on the current Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice updates as set forth by the Appraisal Standards Board of The Appraisal Foundation.
  • Real Estate Appraisal Report Writing (14 Hours) - Syllabus
    • This course covers how to complete a Uniform Residential Appraisal Report by examining each section of the report along with the Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD) and utilizing appraisal concepts.
  • Complex Residential Appraisal (14 Hours) - Syllabus
    • This course will center on the methodology of the appraisal process. Students will begin the course by learning about complex appraisal assignments and gain a better understanding of how issues, such as competency and assessing the scope of work, reflect the appraiser’s ability to apply critical thinking to the appraisal process.
  • Financing for Appraisers (14 Hours) - Syllabus
    • This course will focus on monetary systems, mortgage markets, sources of finance, loans, alternative financing, and underwriting. Students will begin the course by learning the definition of money and the various types of monetary systems. The nature and cycle of real estate finance will also be reviewed. In addition, this course will introduce the types of finance and loans, such as fixed-rate, ARM, GPM, conventional, and government-backed.
