Completion Time
You must spend at least 2 ½ weeks (18 days) on the course before you take your final exam. The 18-day time period begins on the date you receive the course. If you are taking this course online, the 18-day time period begins on the date you first log in online. You must complete the course within one year from the date you enrolled. If the final exam is not completed within one year, the course will expire and no credit will be given toward any part of the course. If you want to continue with the course, you will have to re-enroll and pay an additional fee.
You may only complete two courses in any five-week period. If you are taking more than two courses at the same time, the other course(s) must wait their turn. The maximum time allowed for completion of your course(s) is 1 year from the date of enrollment. Courses may be completed within the time frames listed below:

BUYER’S RIGHT TO CANCEL
You have the right to cancel the enrollment agreement and obtain a refund. Requests for cancellation and refunds may be made in any manner. Students should return course materials to:

The student has a right to a full refund of all charges up to five (5) days after enrollment. If canceling during this five-day period, students should refuse UPS shipments from Allied Schools. From day six (6) to day (30) after enrollment, the student has a right to a full refund (excluding shipping charges). For refunds made after 30 days, a 20% non-refundable registration fee of the cost of the course (not to exceed $200) will be deducted from the refund amount. Refunds for cancellations will be paid within 30 days.
REFUND INFORMATION
If you have completed 60% or less of the course and wish to withdraw, you are entitled to receive a “pro-rata” refund for the unused portion of the tuition until the course termination date (see enrollment agreement for exact course termination date).
- Deduct the non-refundable registration fee of 20% of the cost of the course (not to exceed $200) from the total amount paid for the course. Divide this figure by the number of lessons in the course. The answer is the “per lesson” charge for the course.
- Multiply the lessons NOT COMPLETED by the “per lesson charge. The answer is the refund amount due.
Refunds will be paid within 30-days of cancellation or withdrawal.
Rights to refund usually terminate one year after date of enrollment. See enrollment agreement for exact course termination dates.
You may not combine any two (2) price discounts when purchasing a course(s) or program(s); this includes, but is not limited to Alumni and Pay-in-Full discounts.
Quizzes and Final Exam
The course consists of reading comprehension questions at the end of each chapter, and quizzes that are available online. Quizzes are not required to complete the course. The final exam is the only item that must be submitted to Allied for grading. The quizzes and final exam can only be accessed online with your unique username and password given to you at your time of enrollment.
Your final exam date must be scheduled at least 18 days after you received the course materials. You may take the final at Allied, at an exam proctor’s place of business, or online. In order to get credit for the course you must pass the open-book, 100-item multiple-choice final exam with a score of 70% or higher. You will have 2 1/2 hours to complete the exam. If you fail the final exam you may retake the exam free of charge but must wait at least 18 days. Additionally, you will be permitted to retake the exam as many times as necessary as long as your enrollment is current.
When you are ready to take your final exam click the “final exam” link that is posted online. Read each question and click the circle next to the answer you select. When you are finished click “I am done. Grade my answers” to see your score. If you have not completed the exam after the 2 ½ hour time frame is up, the exam will stop, and it will be graded as is. The final exam cannot be downloaded or printed.
Once you have completed the course, please take a moment to fill out the Department of Real Estate’s course evaluation form. Go to www.dre.ca.gov. Click on “Course & Instructor Evaluation” on the lower right-hand side of the webpage, and fill out the form with your responses.
Student Proctor Information
Allied can provide you with a proctor in your area. It’s Allied’s responsibility to confirm that the proctor meets all the DRE rules. It is your responsibility to contact your exam proctor to confirm receipt of the final exam and to schedule a time to take the final exam.
Exam proctors may be any of the following:
- An education official or teacher
- A librarian
- An educational counselor
- A test administrator
- A senior manger or immediate supervisor from the student’s place of employment
- Other responsible individuals are approved on a case-by-case basis
Exam proctors may not be any of the following:
- A relative by blood, marriage or domestic partnership of the student, or any other relationship to the student which could prevent them from properly administering the examination
- A resident at the same address as the student
- An owner of a home-based business
- A current or future Broker
To select a proctor, simply fill out the Proctor Request Form. Mail the completed form to Allied in the envelope marked “Proctor.” Upon receipt of the proctor form, Allied will forward the final exam materials to the proctor’s business address.
What to bring
The final exam is open-book, which means that you may use the course textbook when taking the final. The course textbook is the only book you may use during the final exam. Slide rules or silent, battery operated, electronic pocket-sized calculators which do not have a print-out capability or an alphabetic keyboard may be used if desired. A valid photo I.D. is also required.
Proctor Instructions
The Department of Real Estate requires this examination be sent to the proctor directly and be administered under their supervision. The Proctor is required to complete a Proctor Certificate which requires them to sign under penalty of perjury that they are the not related by blood, marriage, domestic partnership or any other relationship to the person taking the exam which would influence them from properly administering the exam.
When the examinee completes the exam, the Proctor must make a copy of the test answer sheet (in case of loss), put the exam, answer sheet, and the Proctor certificate into the provided self addressed envelope, seal it, and post it in the nearest U.S. mailbox or Post Office. Answer sheets may also be faxed to expedite the Certificate of Completion process. If you choose to fax in your answer sheet, you must also mail in the hard copy.
Renewal General Information (CA ONLY)
Courses Titles and Descriptions:
- Agency – A 3-hour continuing education course which covers agency relationships, how they are created and how they are terminated.
- Ethics – A 3-hour continuing education course which covers ethical requirements for licensees and violations of the real estate law.
- Fair Housing – A 3-hour continuing education course which covers California fair housing laws, federal fair housing laws, and discrimination.
- Financing Options to Increase Sales – A 15-hour continuing education course which covers financing options that are available to prospective buyers to help real estate agents increase sales.
- Protect Yourself and Your Clients – An 18-hour continuing education course which covers different types of property and loan disclosures, such as fire protection and environmental hazard disclosures, local ordinances and taxes, tax withholding, and mortgage loan and seller financing and disclosure statements.
- Trust Fund Handling – A 3-hour continuing education course which covers trust funds, how transactions are stated, trust fund liability, and accounting records.
Prices / Enroll Info
Allied’s continuing education courses are sold in two packages:
- 45-Hour License Renewal (all courses listed above and Risk Management) – $67.00
- 15-Hour License Renewal (Agency, Ethics, Trust Fund Handling, Fair Housing, and Risk Management) – $57.00
Method of Presentation:
All of Allied’s continuing education courses are offered through online or traditional correspondence.

If you are enrolled in the 15-hour course, your final exam must be scheduled at least 2 days after you received your course materials. You may take the final at Allied, at an exam proctor’s place of business, or online. In order to get credit for the course you must pass the open-book, 100-item true/false final exam with a score of 70% or higher. You will have 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete the exam. If you fail the final exam you may retake the exam free of charge. Additionally, you will be permitted to retake the exam as many times as necessary as long as your enrollment is current.
These courses are approved for continuing education credit by the California Department of Real Estate. However, this approval does not constitute an endorsement of the views or opinions which are expressed by the course sponsor, instructor, authors, or lecturers.
