You've decided that it's time for a new house. The decision is made, but how do you find the best real estate agent for the job? Buying a house is one of the biggest investments you can make. Make sure you have the best agent on your side!

Start by asking your family and friends for the name of a good real estate agent. If they've had a positive experience with someone, he or she might be a good candidate for you. If you plan to move to a new area and don't know anyone, you can use the Internet to find a realtor in the area. You can also drive around your desired neighborhood and see if the same name is on some of the real estate signs. This can indicate that the individual specializes in the area you want and might have extensive knowledge of the homes, schools and surrounding community.

Interview the Real Estate Agent

Once you've decided on a suitable candidate, you should set up an initial meeting. Use this time to find out additional information about the real estate agent. Some questions you should ask include:
